I.        application requirements
  • Describe U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Supportive Housing Programs and MECI Housing Consulting Team.

  • Retain MECI Housing Team.

  • Develop application assessment criteria; location(s), site control, need (current senior housing vacancies), IRS 501c(3) tax exemption status, housing or related experience.

  • Identify potential sponsors through e-technology: national and other websites.

  • Set preliminary timeline for initial responses.

  • Review and verify initial budget and organizational information.

  • Review local, state laws for non-compliance issues.


II.       APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
  • Identify/Coordinate Development Teams for each sponsor/site, (i.e. community outreach, stakeholders, project coordinator(s), and other identified community resources).
  • Develop, distribute Section 202 (Supportive Housing for the Elderly) and/or Section 811 (Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities), application checklists to identified sites with completion timeline.
  • Project Coordinator(s) , will assist and monitor timeline tasks/assignments, data collection, and serve as a liaison between sponsor(s) and Consulting Team.
  • Monitor and assess supportive housing checklist completion.
  • Consulting Team reviews, coordinates, and assembles application components.


***National Supportive Housing Plan Requirements:
  • Identify required approval procedures/process.
  • Contact local, federal and state agencies (i.e. HUD, county, community planning & development departments, quasi-governmental agencies (i.e. MSHDA).
  • Develop implementation plan.
  • Website development and/or expansion.
  • Coordination, communication and outreach activities.
